Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 July 2026
Scratch Map is designed to keep your data yours. It has no accounts, no servers of its own, and no analytics or tracking. This policy explains what that means in practice.
What we collect
Nothing. Scratch Map does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user account. The developer has no access to your data and no way to see how you use the app.
What the app stores, and where
The information you create in the app is stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, synced privately through Apple's iCloud service across your own devices. This includes:
- Which prefectures you have marked as visited or planned, and their dates
- Places you log within a prefecture (name, type, and any note you add)
- Which bucket-list items you have ticked off
This data lives in your private iCloud database, which is tied to your Apple Account. It is not shared with the developer or with any other person, and there is no feature for sharing your map with others.
iCloud
If iCloud is enabled on your device, syncing is handled entirely by Apple. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you are not signed in to iCloud, the app simply keeps your data on your device only. You can turn iCloud syncing for the app on or off in the system Settings app under your name → iCloud.
Third parties
Scratch Map contains no third-party advertising, no third-party analytics, and no software development kits that collect data. The prefecture map artwork is a static, licensed asset bundled inside the app; displaying it does not contact any server.
Children's privacy
The app collects no data from anyone, including children, and is suitable for all ages.
Deleting your data
Because your data is stored only on your device and in your own iCloud, you are always in control of it. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. You can also remove its iCloud data from Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
